We are making a special appeal to get Astra some notice. Is it her wonky blind face that means she gets so little interest?
We think she is beautiful. She is so friendly and gentle. Born in 2022, c 20kg, and currently in a private shelter in Bosnia, Astra is hoping to leave shelter life behind and find out how lovely it is to live in a home… hopefully before too long.
As a dog who was born without sight, Astra has not had to adapt to sight loss and is extremely well adapted to living a full, happy life.
Astra was found on the street in Bosnia with her brother. Both pups were taken to safety and were lucky to grown up within the security of the shelter and with the companionship of many dogs and the odd cat. Astra’s personality is mild and loving, and she is playful and bouncy with people and dogs and cats. Astra has been neutered.
Astra’s carers at the shelter say she is a very good girl. She has learnt to walk on a lead and is obedient by nature. As she is still a youngster and loves to play, she will need some ongoing lead and other training, as any young dog would.
Astra has not lived in a home before. She may have naturally clean habits, especially as she knows the routine of the kennel, but equally she may need initial guidance with toilet training. She should pick that up with no problem given a little patience.
Astra has markings on her face that make it look like she is wearing spectacles. This is very touching given she was born blind. She has one closed eye and one milky eye, and this combined with her beautiful harlequin mask and quizzical eyebrows makes you wonder sometimes if she is giving you a little wink. She is certainly a happy soul. She has big smiley spotty chops, huge fluffy ears, a floofy tail and a soft mane that is just waiting for someone to bury their head in.

Type of Home Sought
Astra has spent a long time in the shelter so is looking for a patient family to teach her about living in a home environment. She would love a home with a garden and could live with another dog for company and playtime.
Our adoption donation is £325. This includes travel to the UK, their vaccinations, pet passport, microchip and all preparation for travel. They also come with 5 weeks free insurance (excluding The Channel Isles & Isle of Man).
